Chefs Rene Ortiz and Laura Sawicki will preview their forthcoming East Austin restaurant, Launderette, with a fundraising dinner on February 17 that benefits the Austin Food & Wine Alliance grant program. The two chefs, who drew raves for their work at La Condesa and Sway, will serve more than a dozen samples from their upcoming menu (including feta French toast, razor clams, chicken liver pate, pork saltimbocca, and chèvre cheesecake) at the wine-paired, five-course meal. Ortiz and Sawicki plan to open Launderette at 2115 E. Holly St. on an undetermined day later that week, following the preview dinner.
Tickets for the sneak peek cost $200, with proceeds benefitting the Austin Food & Wine Alliance grant program that has distributed more than $75,000 over the last years to culinary innovators, producers and educators in Central Texas. Tickets are available online at AustinFoodWineAlliance.org.
