One of Austin’s longest-running restaurant operations will close at the end of April.

Corazón at Castle Hill will close after dinner service on April 30. The restaurant on West Fifth Street was originally opened as Castle Hill Cafe by Cathe and David Dailey in 1986.

The Southwestern restaurant was one of the forerunners of the Austin fine dining scene, often landing on Best Of lists in the 80s and 90s.

In 2008 the restaurant, led by chef Michael Taddeo, switched to focus on Interior Mexican dishes, in addition to the Southwestern bistro favorites, and added a lounge and bar area.

“We will miss serving you and inviting you into our ‘home,’ for home is where the heart is,” the restaurant owners wrote in an email to its regulars.  “It has been a wonderful 29 years, with many fond and lasting memories.  Please come visit us in the next two months.  We want to see you and share with you the joy of what we do just a few more times.   Both David Dailey and Mike Taddeo will be here working their hardest to make you happy one more time.”
