Fixed-menu fine dining restaurant Counter 357 has a lovely bar space that occupies the front of the restaurant’s space at 315 Congress Ave. Separated from the dining room by a sliding door, I feel the bar area has been a nice overlooked space for wine and beer downtown. Counter 357 added to the appeal of the space today by adding a few bar bites to its existing bar offerings of charcuterie ($25) and cheese ($18) boards. The small menu includes $2 Long Island Sound oysters, $8 golden snapper crudo with honeydew and mint, $6 Kohishikari arancin. $6 saucisson, and dessert offerings of smoke beer shake with sourdough ice cream ($7) and pineapple-coconut sherbet ($6).
Look for my review of Counter 357 next Friday in Austin360.
