Caffe Medici opened last week at the Lamar Union development (1100 S. Lamar Blvd.) between Cantine and retail shop Board Life. The handsome cafe, which features wavy brown and white design elements and vintage mirrors, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and may expand hours once construction on the massive development is complete. In addition to its roster of coffee drinks, Medici serves more than a half-dozen beers on tap (including Lagunitas IPA and Avery White Rascal). The cafe also sells TacoDeli tacos, sandwiches from Green Cart, and pastries.

Medici will celebrate its grand opening party on June 16 with a 4:30 p.m. screening of “A Film About Coffee” (followed by a Q+A with coffee professionals) at neighboring Alamo South. The $10 ticket also grants entry and a beer at the after-party at Medici.
