Scaffolding from the construction at the Millennium Building fell on No Va Kitchen and Bar (87 Rainey St.), leading to the temporary closure of the two-story Rainey Street restaurant. The restaurant had hoped to reopen Tuesday, but representatives from No Va say the scaffolding did unforeseen damage to restaurant equipment. The restaurant will remained closed until further notice. The scaffolding fell Monday from the south side of the Millennium building, doing substantial damage to the roof, patio, and landscaping.
“We were disappointed to see the damage the scaffolding caused our restaurant, but we were lucky that the accident occurred while the restaurant was closed,” general manager Lorenzo Laurel said yesterday.
A rep from the restaurant today added, “The safety of No Va’s staff and customers and quality control are the utmost priority as we work quickly to re-open this week.”
