New restaurant Stella San Jac will open its doors on July 16. The restaurant, which will serve “an eclectic Southern menu inspired by the local community,” will be located on the ground floor of the Austin Westin Downton at 310 East Fifth St. (at the corner of San Jacinto Boulevard).
Stella San Jac will serve “Austin-American,” according to a press release, with a menu that includes Gulf shrimp and lump crab roll, braised short ribs with sweet potato mash, and … biscuits! The full menu and name of the executive chef will be announced in coming weeks.
“We love the name Stella because it exemplifies all things Austin,” said Dickinson. “Stella means star in Latin and, for us, relates to the celebration of the Lone Star, which symbolizes Texas pride as an independent state. The restaurant also weaves in Austin’s love of music with design elements inspired by the American-built Stella guitar played by many notable artists in the 20s and 30s.”
The restaurant will be open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. More information at Facebook.com/stellasanjac.
