Now open: Gluten-free specialist Blackbird Bakery’s first retail storefront

Gluten-free wholesale bakery Blackbird Bakery opened its first retail store at 2300 Lohman Spur, #163 in Lakeway. Blackbird is owned by chef Karen Morgan, a champion of gluten-free baking who wrote the book “The Everyday Art of Gluten-Free.” The store sells baked products like cookies, crunchy breadsticks, crackers, breads, donut holes, spinach-lemon quiche, almond frangipani tartlets, apple plum galletes and more. Blackbird also sells its assortment of boxed gluten-free flour blends for cakes, pies, pastas, pizza and more.  Blackbird’s hours will change during the holiday season, during which it will also fill specialty pie orders, but the store is currently open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For current hours and specials, visit Blackbird’s Facebook page.
