Legendary East Austin restaurant Cisco’s is on the market, real estate agent David Huffaker confirmed. The 102-year-old building at 1511 E. Sixth St. is listed for $3.5 million. Huffaker’s listing on AustinHomeSearch.com says “buy and take over operations as a similar type restaurant or come in & change the style & type of restaurant or even convert to a bar.”
This is not the first time the property and business have been listed. Owner Clovis Cisneros put the East Austin institution, a popular restaurant among area locals, politicians and notables such as Ben Crenshaw, on the market in 2010 for $3.8 million.
Cisneros told the Statesman’s John Kelso at the time, “I don’t think it’s going to sell for that; I’m just throwing my hook out there.”
Calls to Cisco’s this afternoon went unanswered.
“I got burned out,” Cisneros also told Kelso in 2010. “I’ve been coming in here 40-something years and I’ve had enough. Can you imagine waking up on weekends and putting out a thousand orders of migas in one day?”
