Taco Bell Cantina, serving local beer and booze, opens today in Austin

This ain’t your father’s Taco Bell. The fast-casual chain is 86ing the drive-thru, modernizing and putting on a sleek new look for Taco Bell Cantina. The new restaurant opens today at 2000 Guadalupe Street near the University of Texas. The restaurant will serve the familiar Taco Bell menu, along with shareable menu items, beers from Live Oak Brewery and Texas-based liquors like Tito’s and Treaty Oak Rum.

In addition the new menu and screens in the restaurant that promote a “social experience,” the restaurant will also have an open kitchen and community seating in an apparent attempt to mirror the experience of restaurants that are usually in a higher price point than Taco Bell.
