Update: Tumble 22 has amended its hours to the following: 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Salty Sow chef-partner Harold Marmulstein is bringing a little bit of Nashville to Austin. He opened his Tumble 22 Hot Chicken truck today at 1120 W. Fifth St. (at the corner of Walsh Street), a couple of blocks west of Lamar Boulevard.
The centerpiece of the menu is all-natural chicken tumbled in seasoned flour, fried, coated in spices and dipped in one of four varying levels of hot sauce. You can order the chicken in a sandwich, like the classic chicken sandwich ($8) topped with kale slaw, bread-and-butter pickles and Duke’s Mayonnaise; as well as boats of white and dark meat with chicken fat fries. Customers can add items such as avocado, cheddar cheese and tomato to the sandwiches and several sauces are also available.
