Update: “I’ve never seen anything like it.” Patrick Terry joked that he should have been in the taco business all along. The owner of Taco Ranch said they have pretty much sold out of food and will close for the day at 4 p.m. He estimates they probably sold about 2,500 tacos in the first 9 hours of their soft opening. The restaurant will re-open tomorrow at 6 a.m.
After bringing quality ingredients, convenience, a simple menu and low prices to the hamburger concept, Patrick Terry is applying the same philosophy to Tex-Mex. His Taco Ranch opened this morning and you can check out the full menu at the bottom of this post.
The restaurant, located in a former Burger King at MoPac Boulevard and U.S. 290 (5033 U.S. 290 W.), opened softly this morning, and I imagine the lines of cars are already forming. Terry is keeping the menu simple serving tacos, chalupas, burritos, quesadillas and taco salads, and topping and filling them with homemade salsas, all-natural chicken, beef, homemade chorizo and veggies, and serving them with homemade flour and corn tortillas. Taco Ranch serves several breakfast tacos, cinnamon rolls and coffee cake in the morning.
Taco Ranch is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m Thursday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. The restaurant offers drive-thru and sit down service and will eventually be serving beers and sangria-based margaritas. Terry says the restaurant will celebrate its Grand Opening on February 1.
Oh, and a wise word of advice from some dude on Twitter …
