Danny Meyer’s burger empire Shake Shack has always been community-minded, and its latest local move has in that vein has been to partner with fellow South Lamar resident Tiny Pies to benefit the Austin Humane Society.
The new Pie Oh My concretes (Shake Shack’s frozen blended custards in a cup) from Shake Shack will feature freshly baked seasonal pies from Tiny Pies. Five percent of sales from each concrete will benefit the Austin Humane Society. The concretes are available at the South Lamar and Domain locations. The flavors of the special concretes are as follows: Apple through September. Chocolate Cream October through December. Turtle January through March. Blueberry with Crumb Poppy April through June.
East Austin College Prep is celebrating its inaugural graduating class this year. As the EACP’s students head off to college, the school founded seven years ago by Southwest Key Programs, is raising money to help the teens pay for tuition. One of East Austin’s most famous faces, Aaron Franklin, lent his support for the campaign in the video below, in which he discusses chasing, with 28 cents in his pocket, his home to dream to open Franklin Barbecue.
