Legendary Lockhart restaurant Black’s BBQ now open in New Braunfels

A legendary Texas barbecue joint expanded its empire yesterday, as Lockhart-based Black’s BBQ opened in New Braunfels at 936 Loop 337. Located in a former Rudy’s Country Store, which moved just down the road, the restaurant serves almost all of the same traditional cuts of smoked meat (minus baby back ribs) as the original, which opened in downtown Lockhart in 1932.

In addition to Rudy’s and Black’s, New Braunfels is also home to an outpost of Cooper’s from Llano, meaning you’ve got options for your post-tubing smoked-meat fix.

Black’s BBQ now has locations in Lockhart, Austin and New Braunfels, with brothers Kent and Terry Black operating individually in San Marcos and South Austin, respectively.
